All vehicle rentals in Newtownabbey are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the terms, conditions, insurance information, applicable charges, and your responsibilities during the rental period. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Rental Vehicle Requirements
- To rent a vehicle in Newtownabbey, drivers must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions can differ based on vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for those under 25. A valid full driving licence suited to the vehicle category, along with identification and proof of current address, is required. Valid payment details and a security deposit must also be provided, along with any other stipulations outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Process
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Newtownabbey office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept all major credit and debit cards, processed securely through established payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection in Newtownabbey, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be created and signed by both parties. The vehicle should be returned in the same condition as it was received, accounting for normal wear and tear. You are accountable for damages or losses up to the insurance excess amount unless covered by supplementary insurance. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Changes and Cancellations
Cancellation and modification policies differ based on the type of booking and the advance notice provided. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Keep in mind that late cancellations or failure to appear may incur additional fees.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities, including racing, rallying, or off-roading. Transporting hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting or allowing unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. Additionally, the vehicle should not be used for purposes it was not designed for, nor should passenger or weight limits be exceeded. Driving beyond the agreed geographical boundaries without prior authorization is also not allowed.
Breach of these rules may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under Northern Irish law, Car Hire in Newtownabbey will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our liability for any claims is capped at the total amount you paid for the rental in the past 12 months. This limitation does not apply to claims related to death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
9. Local Legal Framework
These Terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.

We retain the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect as soon as they are posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
